Approximately 20 million Americans today suffer from some kind of kidney insufficiency that requires kidney disease care. Kidney diseases that can become chronic include kidney stones, urinary tract infections, or even chronic renal failure that could result in death.

Treating Acute Renal Episodes

Patients who need extended care and rehabilitation after an acute renal episode requiring hospitalization can receive excellent, cost-effective care in community-based nursing facilities — including support for dialysis services if necessary. 

Kidney Transplants

If kidneys can no longer function efficiently enough to clear waste from the body on their own, dialysis or a kidney transplant may be required. At Rehab Select, we help support our patients by transporting them to the appropriate service.

Types of Dialysis

Hemodialysis utilizes a machine that will filter blood when the kidneys can no longer do so, to remove waste products and extra fluid from the body. Peritoneal dialysis utilizes a dialysis solution in the abdomen that will absorb waste and extra fluid; the food is then drained out via a catheter inserted into the abdomen and replaced with a fresh one several times a day.
