What is Respite Care?

Respite care is temporary care of a terminally ill, elderly, chronically ill or disabled person, providing relief for their usual caregiver. At Rehab Select, we provide two types of respite care: Our hospice respite care focuses on providing supportive care for individuals who have a severe life-limiting condition, and we also offer respite care to patients who are living with chronic illnesses or disabilities.

Our services include a wide range of support, with a focus on round-the-clock medical supervision and personal care assistance.

What to Expect

For families who may need a break, we offer temporary respite programs starting at anywhere from five to ten days (or longer if you request it). Our respite care features flexible stay schedules with 24-hour RN coverage, assistance with activities of daily living, engagement in social and recreational activities, medication management, companionship, meal preparation, and, in some cases, transportation or rehabilitation as needed. You can trust us to take good care of your loved one in a safe, nurturing environment.

Benefits of Respite Care

If you are a caregiver, you know that caring for your loved one can be a very rewarding experience but can also be physically and emotionally draining. That's why it's very important for caregivers to have an occasional break. Respite care offers caregivers resources for meeting their own needs, helping them to carve out the time to recharge and return to caregiving refreshed.

Respite care also allows caregivers and families to take a much-needed vacation or deal with emergency situations where personal needs render them temporarily unavailable to perform regular care duties.

Respite care can support families and caregivers with much-needed support for patients with these healthcare needs and more:

  • End-of-life hospice care
  • Pain Management
  • Dementia and Alzheimer's
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Cancer
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Wound care
  • Pulmonary care
  • Diabetes and Neuropathy
